RED COTTAGE
Red Cottage is a semi-detached victorian house in East Green, near to Freedom Farm (previously College Farm). It is the first house in the parish as you travel from Cowlinge.
In the 1980s Red Cottage was home to Joan Thewsey who, along with Brenda Brin led a movement of painters to help and recognise women artists. They called themselves 5 Women Artists Plus and used to exhibit their paintings in St Mary's church on the day of the Church Fete, a tradition which continues with the village art club to this day.
