2000 Planting the Millennium Oak
It was decided to mark the Millennium by planting a new oak tree the village on the corner of the main street, near the village sign. An oak tree has featured on both of the village signs and there is still an ancient oak at the end of Evergreen Lane. Until 2010 there was one by the cowshed on the former Lower Hill Farm site at the bottom of Bradley Hill.
The planting was done by Stephen Ryder of Great Bradley Hall and Tony Knight, Chair of the Parish Council. Short speeches were made in front of a small group of onlookers and then those that were able went back to Crown House (home of Tony and Marie Knight) for a cup of tea and a slice of cake, baked specially for the occasion.
