Best kept Village Award
Great Bradley won two awards in the Best Kept Village in Suffolk, in 1983 & 1985.
These pictures were taken at the presentation of the Best Kept Village in the novices class, 1983. The 'plaque' was only allowed to remain in the village for one year.
At the bottom of the page you can see the correspondence related to entires in the 1960's, including people on the village committee complaining about the state of some people's gardens! The houses in Evergreen Lane were council-owned houses at the time.
In the second last picture below note the low hedge compared to today and a view through Prospect Cottage (which hadn't been extended) and into Fox Farm, where some of the corrugated huts for the pigs can be seen.
