Most of the village events were cancelled during beacuse of the Covid-19 lockdown. There was the sunflower competition though!
A couple in the village were due to get married and had bough packets of sunflower seeds as a table present for their guests. Beacuse the wedding didnt go ahead they offered the seeds to people from the village! There was keen competition between the growers and the pictures track the progress across the summer. The winner of tallest plant, which was a whopping 68cm taller than any other plant, is
Steve George - !! His sunflower topped that chart at an amazing 414cm!
The winner of widest flower, petal tip to tip, is - Alison McCloskey at 36cm!
The winner of shortest flowering plant is - Iain Percival, with a dainty 67cm!
As well as village fame Steve wins a trophy and £20 gardening vouchers, Alison and Iain £10 vouchers each!!
